l’Automobile & la Mode__Ausstellung @ Paris Motor Show 2014

“The exhibition sequence will follow the timeline of the great eras which have left their mark both on the history of Automobiles and of Fashion from the end of the Industrial Revolution up until now. Fifty vehicles, symbols of their generations, will be presented : from the first Panhard and Ford T, associated with the glory days of the Belle époque, to the stars of the Concours d’élégance of the Twenties and Thirties and their legendary bodywork (Voisin Aérosport, Renault Nerva Grand Sport);  from post-war icons (Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, Jaguar XK 120, Facel Vega HK II, Citroën DS19, …) to those of Pop Art years (Citroën Méhari, Renault 4L La Parisienne, Matra 530 SONIA Delaunay, Alfa Roméo Montréal, Toyota 2000 GT…), not forgetting the Eighties and Nineties representing the “Performance years” (the Peugeot 205 GTI and Citroën GTI Turbo). Our contemporary era expresses a closer proximity between both worlds, as shown by the sensuous   character of the concept-cars Renault DeZir and Peugeot HX1 which collaborated in its conception with the shoe designer Pierre Hardy. Several co-signed vehicles will also be presented such as the Mini Paul Smith (1998), the Suzuki Swift Little Marcel (2012), the Smart For Two Jeremy Scott (2013) and the Seat Mii by Mango (2014). The iconography of the exhibition will also be enhanced by large-framed pictures shot by legendary Fashion photographers such as Henry Clarke, Robert Doisneau, Helmut Newton, Peter Knapp, Jean-Daniel Lorieux and Peter Lindbergh as well as vintage pictures produced by the manufacturers (advertisements or catalog extracts) which could compete with true Fashion shots.”*
